It also serves as a basis for further research aimed at developing policy recommendations that can help improve the SME sector, its growth, and its contribution to the country's overall added value. The expansion and development of the SME sector is an opportunity, but also a necessity for the Serbian economy. This report has two components, focused respectively on the demand and supply sides. The first component aims to examine the structure, performance, and growth potential of SMEs in Serbia \u2013 because it is a large segment of the Serbian economy that is poorly understood, and is relatively neglected by both policymakers and the wider public.
