{"id":9144,"date":"2024-12-18T09:23:24","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T08:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ceves.org.rs\/?p=9144"},"modified":"2025-11-11T15:48:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T14:48:02","slug":"sr-novi-izvestaj-platforme-odrzivi-razvoj-za-sve-da-li-je-cilj-na-vidiku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ceves.org.rs\/en\/sr-novi-izvestaj-platforme-odrzivi-razvoj-za-sve-da-li-je-cilj-na-vidiku\/","title":{"rendered":"New report from the Platform \u201eSustainable Development for All\u201c: Is the goal in sight?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Civil society organizations gathered around <a class=\"_ps2id\" href=\"https:\/\/sdgs4all.rs\/\" data-ps2id-offset=\"\">\u201eSustainable Development for All\u201c Platform\u201c<\/a> have published <a class=\"_ps2id\" href=\"https:\/\/ceves.org.rs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IV-monitoring-izvestaj-1.pdf\" data-ps2id-offset=\"\">the fourth monitoring report on the preparedness of the Republic of Serbia for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda<\/a>, titled <strong>\u201eIs the Goal in Sight?\u201c<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The report is intended for representatives of the public and business sectors, the academic community, civil society organizations, as well as citizens who wish to gain insight into how prepared Serbia is to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, whether progress has been made in certain priority areas, and what the possible next steps are.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do the latest data show us?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the \u201eEuropean Sustainable Development Report 2023\/24\u201d, <strong>the Republic of Serbia ranks 30th out of 34 European countries<\/strong> <strong>covered by the analysis<\/strong>, which is a one-place improvement compared to the previous year. For five goals, it is stated that they are on track for achievement, for five goals, slight progress has been observed, while for five goals, stagnation has been assessed. Data are not available for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The organizations gathered around the \u201eSustainable Development for All\u201c Platform remind that the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda itself are very complex and need to be adapted to national circumstances.<\/strong> This implies defining development priorities and relevant sub-goals that reflect Serbia's priorities, followed by the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals, i.e., their integration into local planning documents. <strong>The entire process should be carried out with the broadest possible social consultations and the strengthening of partnerships between different sectors.<\/strong> This is not easy at all, considering that only six years remain for the implementation of the Agenda.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steps towards the goal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In order for the <strong>2030 Agenda to be positioned as one of the priority processes<\/strong>, it is necessary for the authority for the management, coordination, and implementation of the Agenda and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals to be clearly defined in the Law on Ministries, and for these processes to be included in the annual work plan of the Government of Serbia.<\/p>\n<p>The second group of recommendations relates to <strong>aligning planning documents and the legal framework with the 2030 Agenda,<\/strong> such as the adoption of the Development Plan of the Republic of Serbia, the highest hierarchical development planning document. When adopting it, a broad and transparent social dialogue should be conducted, which includes defining development priorities and adapting the Sustainable Development Goals to Serbia's circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to <strong>establishing institutional and coordination mechanisms<\/strong> , it is necessary to form an \u201eInterdepartmental Working Group for the Implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,\u201d which should establish cooperation with stakeholders in various activities and at various levels. Additionally, it is important to consolidate and make visible information about all institutions, working groups, and other bodies involved in this process.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, regarding <strong>mechanisms for monitoring progress and reporting<\/strong> on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, the \u201eReport on Progress in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 in the Republic of Serbia\u201d by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia should be supplemented with an assessment of the distance from the target values of indicators and the effectiveness of public policy measures related to them, in cooperation with relevant institutions, working groups, and other bodies.
