The project's objective was to assess the potential long-term impact of introducing a circular economy in three selected sectors, based on macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, employment, net exports, etc. This research contributes to the circular economy strategy in Serbia. The impact assessment focuses on the economic and social effects in the sectors: agriculture/food industry, electrical and electronic equipment, and plastic packaging. Within the model, an assessment of revenue, costs, value added, profit, and job creation is covered, in case of the introduction of a circular economy in the selected sectors. For the purposes of this project, CEVES developed a methodology for assessing the economic impact of the circular economy using partially balanced modeling at the sector level, primarily relying on calibration experience from other countries. Quantifying changes in key macroeconomic indicators refers to assessing the difference in targeted scenarios (and achieving national goals) and business-as-usual scenarios. The research included collecting official data (Serbia and EU), semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, assessing economic activity and price growth, benchmark analysis, etc.
