The general objective of this project relates to contributing to the democratic consolidation and institutional reform in Serbia, through contributing to the overall alignment of Serbia with the European Union's competition policy. The goal is for progress to be manifested in the improvement of the negotiation process for Chapter 8, in such a way that Serbia's negotiating position is prepared one year from the start of the project. However, democratic consolidation and institutional strengthening will be achieved by strengthening the institutions responsible for the protection and promotion of competition and by holding them accountable by civil society organizations. This will create an environment in which a large number of stakeholders better understand how EU competition policies benefit consumers and promote economic development. The fact that stakeholders understand the importance of this policy influences their greater engagement and the support they provide to relevant institutions (primarily the Commission for the Control of State Aid), but also their ability to call these institutions to cooperate.
